Breeders’ Cup Classic – Race 12

Game On DudeThe 2013 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic will be Race 12 on the card at Santa Anita on Saturday and is for 3 year olds and up looking to travel 1 ¼  mile. This is the big one folks! The big talk here has been on Game On Dude who failed in this event last year, but has come on strong since. Game On Dude is the 8/5 morning line favorite with Mike Smith onboard. Smith has been solid in this event with a 5: 2-2-1 resume in the last 5 Classics. Unfortunately for Game On Dude, the pace scenario is not in his favor. There is a ton of front-end speed here and quite a few pace pressers like Palace Malice and Paynter.  There is also the battle between Palace Malice and Will Take Charge for shots at 3 Year Old Horse of the Year awards. Both horses have the best shot here as sophomores than any other’s in quite some time. If you have been keeping up with us at HHR, you already know that our loyalties have always been with Will Take Charge and this race will be no different. Ron the Greek will miss out on this event due to a quarter crack in his right front hoof. It’s not a long term problem, but will keep him out of this one. Other serious contenders include Flat Out, Declaration of War, Mucho Macho Man and The Last Gunfighter. The average winning pay-out in the history of this event is $28.84 for the win based on a $2 wager. Listed below are our picks (listed in predicted order of finish) for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Classic.  Good luck!
