2013 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint

Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint – Race 6

Judy the BeautyThe 2013 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint will be Race 6 on the card at Santa Anita on Saturday and is for fillies and mares 3 years old and up looking to travel 7 furlongs. In the history of this race, Keeneland’s Grade 2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes has produced 4 consecutive winners with Informed Decision in 2009, Dubai Majesty in 2010, Musical Romance in 2011 and Groupie Doll in 2012. In this year’s TCA, Groupie Doll ran third behind Gypsy Robin in 2nd and Judy the Beauty in first. Although Groupie Doll is the 5/2 favorite in the Filly & Mare Sprint this year, you have to consider Judy the Beauty as a better value play based on that race and the history of this race, especially at a morning line of 6 to 1. Another thing to consider here is that in the 6 year history of the race, all 6 winners have run either 1st or 2nd in their final prep races. With that in mind, that gives Renee’s Titan, Starship Truffles, Dance Card and Groupie Doll a distinct disadvantage. Finally with all of these things in mind, it’s also important to note that only one favorite has ever won this race. That was Groupie Doll in last year’s edition. The average winning pay-out in the history of this event is $16.56 for the win based on a $2 wager. Listed below are our picks (listed in predicted order of finish) for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. Good luck!
