Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf- Race 9

Testa RossiThe 2013 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf will be Race 9 on the card at Santa Anita on Friday and is for 2 year old fillies looking to travel 1 mile on the turf. The 4 to 1 morning line favorite in this one is European shipper, Vorda. In the 2012 edition of this race, European shipper, Flotilla won it by 1 ¼ lengths and paid $24.80 for the win, but historically this race has been won by American based fillies, primarily out of New York and Kentucky. The 2nd favorite in this line-up is My Conquestadory. My Conquestadory is unbeaten in 2 starts winning the Grade 2 Summer Stakes at Woodbine by 3 ¼ lengths and the Grade 1 Alcibiad by 1 ¾ lengths. She would appear to be the hot pick here, but unfortunately drew the outside post in position 14, putting her at a disadvantage. Trainer Mark Casse was so discouraged by this that he even stated that they may drop from the race. We’ll have to see if this holds true or not. If prep races have any bearing on the outcome of this race, the Grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes at Belmont has produced 2 winners and 2 runners-up in the past 5 years. This year’s Miss Grillo Stakes winner was French shipper, Testa Rossi. Testa Rossi made a late charge in that race and won by 1 length. The average winning pay-out in the history of this event is $22.80 for the win based on a $2 wager. Listed below are our picks (listed in predicted order of finish) for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Good luck!
