2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile – Race 8

HavanaThe 2013 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile will be Race 8 on the card at Santa Anita on Saturday and is for 2 year old colts and geldings looking to travel 1 1/16 mile. 5 of the last 6 Juvenile winners have either raced on the lead or pressed the place in second, the only exception being Vale of York in the 2009 edition. In the last 7 BC Juvenile races, the favorite has done no worse than 2nd. Last year’s winner was favorite Shanghai Bobby who pressed the pace in 2nd behind Title Contender, took the lead at the ¾ pole and won by a head over He’s Had Enough. This year’s favorite is Havana at 5/2 on the morning line. Havana recently won the Grade 1 Champagne at Belmont in front-running fashion hanging on to the victory by a neck over Honor Code. There is a lot of potential talent in this race including recent maiden winners Tap It Rich and New Year’s Day, as well as graded stakes winners We Miss Artie, Strong Mandate and Bond Holder. Cleburne scratched from this one after developing a buck shin. The average winning pay-out in the history of this event is $16.89 for the win based on a $2 wager. Listed below are our picks (listed in predicted order of finish) for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Good luck!
