2013 Breeders’ Cup Marathon

Breeders’ Cup Marathon- Race 6

Take ControlThe 2013 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Marathon will be Race 6 on the card at Santa Anita and is for 3 year olds and up looking to travel 1 ¾ mile. The beauty of this race being the first Breeders’ Cup event is that historically it has brought in some very nice longshots at great prices. Take for instance last year’s winner Calidoscopio who paid $36.40 for the win or 2011 winner, Afleet Again who paid $85.20! The average winning pay-off for this event is $37.28 on a $2 wager. Should history repeat itself, this could be a great race to help build your bankroll for the rest of the BC events, an added edge we would all like to take advantage of. International horses have a tendency to dominate in this one as American based trainers have trouble getting their horses adept to the distance and the overall public’s ability to handicap the foreigners can make this one ripe for the taking. Many were looking forward to seeing Take Control in this event having a true Breeders’ Cup pedigree as the son of A.P. Indy, but unfortunately he was euthanized after sustaining a fatal injury to his right front leg during a workout on October 17th. Ever Rider appears to be the favorite in this one as the only “Win and You’re In” Challenger. Listed below are our picks (listed in predicted order of finish) for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Marathon. Good luck!
