Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint – Race 7

MizdirectionThe 2013 Grade 2 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint will be Race 7 on the card at Santa Anita on Saturday and is a downhill turf for 3 years old and up looking to travel 6 ½ furlongs. This event is unique at Santa Anita as it features the downhill portion of the turf from out of the chute and is set at 6 ½ furlongs as opposed to the 5 furlong distance that Churchill has used in the past for this event. European horses have not done well in this event in the past, but California based horses have won all 3 running’s of the Turf Sprint when it was held at Santa Anita. In the last 3 editions of this race the post time favorite has finished in either first or second place. This year’s morning line favorite at 4 to 1 is Mizdirection. Mizdirection won this event last year over favorite Unbridled’s Note in 2nd and Reneesgotzip in 3rd, becoming the first filly to win this event. Mizdirection looks good in this one again, so don’t let the lay-off from June scare you. When she won last year she hadn’t raced since May! Caracortado scratched from this race due to a slight quarter crack in the right front hoof. The average winning pay-out in the history of this event is $24.40 for the win based on a $2 wager. Listed below are our picks (listed in predicted order of finish) for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint. Good luck!
