Breeders’ Cup Turf – Race 9

The FugueThe 2013 Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf will be Race 9 on the card at Santa Anita on Saturday and is for 3 year olds and up looking to travel 1 ½ mile on the turf. Of the 29 editions of the Breeders’ Cup Turf, 19 have been European horses. Last year’s winner, Little Mike, disrupted that pattern when he won by a ½ length over Point of Entry and paid $36.60 for the win. Both Little Mike and Point of Entry will be back for this year’s BC Turf, but they’ll have a tough time contending with Euro invader, The Fugue. This 4 year old filly is actually the 3 to 1 morning line favorite and has more than proved that she can take on the boys. She did run 3rd in the BC Filly & Mare Turf last year due to some serious traffic problems; she has had no problems with mixed company all year over seas and looks ready for this race. Point of Entry has been off since June recovering from a left hind cannon bone fracture and has not had a prep race, which is concerning.  Little Mike is now 6 and no horse over the age of 5 has ever won this race. The average winning pay-out in the history of this event is $21.53 for the win based on a $2 wager. Listed below are our picks (listed in predicted order of finish) for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Turf. Good luck!
