All Star Dan For Fourstardave

Super Wise Dan in the Fourstardave

Super Wise DanToday I am going to be previewing the Grade 2 Fourstardave Handicap for 3 year olds and upward going 1 mile for a purse of $500,000. I guess it just has to happen when you have a horse that beats everything he runs against that you have to have a race for him regardless. I mean Wise Dan is well on his way to horse of the year honors again and rightly so. I mean this race is like Superman taking on the Smurfs.

The Wise Dan Weight Factor

Wise Dan Wins FirecrackerThe one thing that might beat him is the weight. I know he carried 129 in his last race and he won it by 2 lengths anyway. But another race with 129 on him may take its toll. Doubtful, but it is worth considering. Now as you all know, I always try to beat the favorite. I mean I’m just wired that way and always have been. But I just love Wise Dan. I mean you have to love a horse that gives it his all every race regardless of the weight or the competition or the conditions. That is what you have here. Wise Dan should handle these with no problem.

So what I am going to try to do here is pick the second place horse and tie him with Wise Dan and maybe win a little money. An old horse player friend of mine once said to make a longshot out of a favorite you just have to bet a lot more money on him. Well I don’t subscribe to that theory but maybe we can get something out of this.

Fourstardave Break-Down

Za ApprovalThe morning line second favorite is Lea who ran second to Wise Dan last out. He split horses willingly and still came up short. Today he will have the services of Joel Rosario. Still I believe he won’t be second today. Let’s dig deeper.

The next one in the morning line is Za Approval at 8 to 1. I am leaning his way slightly because he is getting somewhat of a weight break. I know some of you don’t even pay attention to weight but I can tell you for a fact that enough weight can stop a train. He carried 124 and 123 in his last two races where he finished second and first. Today he gets in at 118. That could feel a whole lot better to this horse. I kind of like him.

Mr. CommonsThe next horse I would consider is Mr. Commons. He has run third and fifth to Wise Dan in the past and is poised for a good effort today.

Here is the way I see it shaking out.  I believe King Kreesa will be on the front end and I think Lea will go with him. Now if Lea does not go with him look out. If he can slow the pace down and not get pressed on the lead this horse could be a handful at the wire. But I am assuming that Lea will not let him be alone on the lead. Wise Dan will not be too far back and will do his usual thing in a stalking manner. Za Approval and Mr. Commons will both be firing down the lane. If they run like this it will be Wise Dan first, Za Approval second and Mr. Commons third.

All of this is predicated on two things. King Kreesa must not be allowed to run free on the lead and Wise Dan must carry the weight like the champion that he is.

Good luck guys and gals!
