Dayatthespa Looks for Win at the Spa

2013 Diana Stakes at Saratoga

Stephanie's KittenThe Diana Stakes is a Grade 1 race for filles and mares 3 year olds and up going a distance of 11/8 miles with a purse of $600,000.  This year’s race attracted only six horses so let’s preview the race and try and pick a winner.

The morning line favorite is Stephanie’s Kitten who has won 4 out of her last 6 races. She is forced by the conditions to carry the 123 pounds and I believe that that will get her beat. John Velazquez will be in the irons.

Centre CourtThe second choice from the morning line is Centre Court. She has been beaten by the favorite a couple of times but she also has beaten the Kitten too so this should be interesting. Julien Leparoux is up.

The third choice in the ML is Dream Peace, ridden by Mike Smith. She has a stalking style of running and is getting a weight break here.

DayatthespaBut my choice is one that you may not agree with. Just hear me out here. Dayatthespa with Javier Castellano up is my choice in this race. For one thing you will get good value for your buck and you will be betting on the pace setter in this race. If you take a look at her 11/8 mile races, she has  run well in both of them…like she won them both beating Centre Court in one of them and she has finished in front of the Kitten one time too in a 1mile affair. She has the experience and will be on the lead.

So my pick is Dayatthespa first, Dream Peace second and Stephanie’s Kitten third.

Good luck guys and gals!
